Tara's Runners

I finally got Tara's runner for her table at the cabin,
I made the other mats for the island and maybe the
counter or lamp table.
I think they are fun.
The colors of her cabin.
She says they are TOO Halloweeny.
She can use them for Halloween

WAFER PAPER LOVE/Christmas Cookies!

I just love this one even though it is not Christmas!

Vintage Angels

Love this NON-Christmas one too!

To Apply Wafer Paper:
Frost Cookies.
Either with Royal Icing, Fondant a Glaze
or Butter cream.
Apply piping gel to the back
of the wafer paper.
Apply to cookie or cake.
I have just put a dot of
icing, or gel on the corners before,
Smooth gently.
Beautiful!
Looks so pretty and yet it is so simple!

My Fav!
This is all Wafer Paper.
You can purchase it several
different places of course.

It comes in all colors.
I use the iridescent the most.
It really makes things look MAGICAL!

CUTEST BURP CLOTHS EVER!!!

My Sister Robin
"THE QUEEN OF CUTE CRAFTS"
Made these adorable burp cloths
from Cloth Diapers.
She ordered them online.....
WHERE ROBIN????
They are SOOOO Soft and Nice!

LOVE THEM!!!!
Thanks Robin from Tara!
LOVE LOVE LOVE
The OWLS are SO CUTE!
Robin said:..."I bought these on-line,
because I didn't think the
Gerber ones at the store were soft enough
for our Sweet Baby Coughlin.
I found these
100% Organic Egyptian Cotton ones
at
www.underthenile.com

Cut fabric 1 inch wider and 1 inch longer
than middle-padded strip.
Fold in and press 1/2 inch
around all 4 sides of fabric,
then zig-zag around.
Cute to also put ribbon or rick-rack around. :)"

Lavendar Baby Shower Cake and Cupcakes.

Red Velvet and Pumpkin Choc Chip.
Cake was Vanilla with Strawberry
Cream Cheese Filling.
I am liking these new flowers
I have been doing.
Kind of like the folded fabric flowers.

WONDERFUL DAY!

What a fun day I had......
Sewing, Eating, Blogging!
2 Route 44 Diet Cokes!
I even had an on-line
Zappos shopping
"MISTAKE"
(as my daughter-in-law
Lindsey would say)!
I LOVE ZAPPOS!
I'll bet it is here tom!
FREAKS ME OUT!
HOW do they get it here
overnight???????
LOVE THAT!

Project Runner

Not Project RunWAY....
I started these
runners tonight.
They were supposed to be
Halloween ones, but did not
get to them!  My daughter
Tara's cabin is orange, gray,
black, and a little lime....do you
think these are TOO Halloween
looking?  I am going to finish them
anyway.....Maybe use them next year?

Fleece blanket.

I found this cool rotary cutter
that makes holes!
So cut your blanket the size
you would like.
I use a plate for the corners.
Then move in 1/2" and go around
again with the hole cutter.
I crochet around 1st using
a single crochet, then go around
again in between doing 3 double
crochets in each gap.
There is an older post
showing the finished look.
I will post this one when done.
Adi picked this fabric for her
baby sister expected in a couple
of weeks.

Burp Cloths

 I saw these.....
ONLINE!
OF COURSE!
I bought Wal-Mart
Cloth Diapers above.
I was talking to my sister...
She also saw them somewhere
and ordered some softer diapers
on-line.
Funny that we were doing
similar projects without
conversing!!!

This is what they look like
for you lucky moms that
never had to experience them!
I decided to put a ruffle on mine:
I learned this trick recently:
LOVE IT!
You just zig zag over
crochet thread, or dental floss...
etc.
Then leaving enough at the ends
pull to ruffle.

I pinned the ruffle onto the
diaper and added the ric rac.
Then with a zig zag stitch
sewed the trim on in one
step.

 Not a Happy Helper!
I just used some scraps I had,
but they will do the trick.
The diapers are super absorbent.

My sister said she was sewing
a strip of fabric down the center.
That will be cute!

ROBIN:
Will you post a comment
where and what diapers you bought?

Adi's Tricot Nightgown:

Click to play this Smilebox slideshow
Create your own slideshow - Powered by Smilebox

I made a Tricot nightgown for Adi
She was DETERMINED that I should
line it with fleece.....
and could NOT understand why
I did not get how she was explaining
to do it!  I UNDERSTAND AD,
BUT..  I just don't think you would really
like it once it was finished!
I think she loved it once it was done.
I am going to TRY to make all
5 granddaughters one!
HO HO HO!

NO they are NOT very warm for
Christmas....BUT we live in the DESERT!

Step by Step Self Binding Receiving Blanket:

 Cut Fabric:
(Flannel works best)
Bottom 40" x 40"
Top 30" x 30"
I think this is a great size
and it works well with
the width of fabric.
But as long as the
width and length
of the bottom
is 10" bigger than the
front, it works!
I suppose if you
wanted to make it
any size binding edge...
just make the top
and sides the
same...
Example:
Bottom 35" x 35"
Top 30" x 30"  or
Bottom 35" x 25"
Top 45" x 35" etc.
You can make doll blankets too!
Maybe Top 30" x 30"
Bottom 20" x 20".

Fold both pieces
in 1/2 and
in 1/2 till square

IRON Crease

Pin Right sides together
matching  Creases.
I only pin in 4 places on
creases.

Then starting at the crease
where pinned in the middle
of the fabric edge sew from
the middle out to the corner
stop 1/4" before the end/corner.

Repeat on all 4 sides sewing
from the middle out middle out,
leave a 6"ish opening on
one of the sides for turning.
Your blanket should look like above.
 Matching sides fold and lay
on mat.

 Fold corner over and press
along fold with finger.
 Mark for sewing.

 See the corner above.
Sew across line, on all 4 corners.
If you are questioning the angle...
LIKE I ALWAYS DO!
Sew with long stitch and turn,
if it is right, sew again
with more secure stitch.
I shake out and make sure
everything looks right.
Then turn right side out,
Press.
Use pin to pull corners out
to nice point if needed.

Fold opening nicely and Iron.
Then ......
Sew opening used for turning shut.
A nice big zig zag stitch catches it
all nicely and looks cute too or...
Trim is cute.
Again, I usually use a large
zig zag in order to catch the
opening well! I did not on
this one, and had to resew the
opening!

WALA!  "SEW" EASY AND CUTE!
I made this little bib from the leftover fabric
Not so great!  But it's cute right?
That's what is fun about sewing for your kids!
They don't really care that it is not perfect!
